Meet Our Staff

Executive Director

Beth Eckloff-Paz currently serves as the Executive Director of InterVarsity’s Fresno Institute for Urban Leadership (FIFUL). FIFUL equips and mobilizes students to become urban leaders to pursue transformation of America’s toughest neighborhoods.  For the last 9 years Beth has dedicated her life to community transformation through urban ministry, neighborhood development, advocacy and leadership development. Her heart is to raise up leaders who will both announce and demonstrate the fullness of the Gospel message. She serves as a Board member for two organizations and assists her husband with neighborhood youth ministry. Beth moved from Washington State to pursue a degree from Fresno Pacific University and graduated with her BA in English and InterCultural Studies. She and her amazing husband Ivan reside in a beautiful neighborhood in downtown Fresno and live as missionaries and friends within a community of predominately Spanish-speaking neighbors.

Ivan Paz

Pink House Co-Director

Ivan PazBorn in Los Angeles and raised in Fresno, CA, Ivan grew up in rough communities. He is intimately connected with the inner-city having been a school drop-out and gang-member. During a 5 year prison term, God called Ivan and his life took a radically different direction. He became the first in his family to graduate from a University, completing a double BA in Pre-Law & Religious Studies. In struggling to find a career and move out of the kind of neighborhoods he grew up in he felt God call him to remain.

Ivan currently serves as Program Co-Director of the Pink House and is now working on his Masters of Theology at Fresno Pacific Seminary. He and his beautiful wife Beth live in the Jefferson community of Fresno.

Karl A. Gurney

Pink House Assistant Director

Karl is the newest member of FIFUL's staff team. He has served with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship since 2011 and continues to minister to students at Fresno City College. His newest role is as Assistant Director for the Pink House, where he hopes to inspire the interns to find their calling and explore their passions in the context of urban ministry. Karl graduated from Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo with a Bachelor of Science Degree and cares deeply about the intersection of faith and ecology, art, and the city. When he isn't meeting with students, he enjoys exploring the outdoors or reading a hefty stack of books over a good cup of coffee. Karl loves the city of Fresno and is thrilled to serve the downtown community, although he misses being so close to the beach.

May Tag Yang

FUI, FUMP, Dips Project Program Director

May Tag Yang is a native of Fresno.  She received her BA from Fresno Pacific University in Psychology.  She currently is the Director of Short Term Projects with FIFUL.  If she isn’t engaging with students on issues of injustices in the city, you can find her assisting with various local Racial Reconciliation events.  She also loves arts and craft and is currently exploring what it means to incorporate Jesus and Art holistically.

Tina Lawrence

Executive Administrator

Tina grew up in Clovis, CA with a desire to see environmental health and beauty in her local community. She earned a Bachelor in Science in Community and Regional Development from UC Davis. She became a believer of Jesus during her sophomore year in High School and committed her life to His way. Tina and her husband Brian feel led to love the city God has brought them to live in, Fresno.
